Campground: Oak Mountain State Park

Oak Mountain State Park is located 15 miles south of Birmingham off Exit 246 on Interstate 65, Central Alabama. PRIMITIVE CAMPING Oak Mountain State Park offers two forms of primitive camping. There are several designated backcountry sites for backpacking that are conspicuously located throughout the park, which offer a view of the varying topography & habitats that are found in the region. These sites with our 50 plus miles of trails offer an assortment of loops that novice & experienced backcountry campers utilize for a quick get-a-away or preparing for a future hike. Leave-No-Trace ethics is expected of our campers & the usage of open fires is not permitted….camp stoves for cooking purposes are allowed. Additionally, we offer a group camp facility for Girl Scout & Boy Scout activities only. IMPROVED CAMPGROUND Nestled in a large cul-de-sac which boarders Beaver Lake & surrounded by rolling hills toped with the long lived & majestic Longleaf Pines, our campground is a favorite stop for families to get away from the hustle & bustle of the modern world. The campground is open for camping year-round. Largest State Park in Alabama, with nearly 10,000 acres.
