Ninilchik has become know as the "Heart of Recreation" for Alaska's gorgeous Kenai Peninsula. It is a small village steeped in history of the first Russian settlers, many of whom have decendants still living in the area. Located within the town's boundaries are five state parks, two major salmon fishing rivers, many private RV parks & campgrounds, beaches famous for razor clamming, & of course the Deep Creek access point into Cook Inlet. The Deep Creek recreation area is the major entrance into the famous halibut fishing grounds of Cook Inlet, where huge halibut roam. From king salmon in the spring, to razor clamming at low tides, to halibut fishing in the ocean, Ninilchik has the most to offer in a friendly town atmosphere.
