Description: The camping area within the 3,500 acre long term visitor area is dotted with mesquite trees, creosote bushes, & palo verde, a desert landscape which contrasts delightfully with the cool waters of the lake. The visitor area is geographically situated to provide wonderful scenic vistas of the surrounding Colorado River basin. Visitors enjoy a spectrum of water-related recreation, from fishing & swimming to boating & windsurfing. Additional facilities include an area for performances & dances, & ramadas for shady picnics. Location: Exit I-8 & follow AZ 24 north about 22 miles to the turnoff on Senator Wash Road. Turn onto Senator Wash Road & follow it about two miles to the South Mesa area where there is a visitor contact station. The long term visitor area is on the California side of the Colorado River.
