Campground: Boulder Oaks Campground
Description: 3300-foot elevation. 30 campsites, including 14 reservable equestrian sites & some double sites. This is a crucial breeding ground for the endangered arroyo toad, & closes periodically for the health of this animal. Bears are frequent visitors at this campground & bear boxes are provided. Location: East of San Diego, take I-8 to Buckman Springs Road exit & continue two miles east on Old Highway 80. Address: Descanso Ranger District Cleveland National Forest Season: year round Picnicking / Hiking/Backpacking / Horseback Riding / RV Sites/ Restrooms / Drinking Water Notes: 40 foot maximum RV length or length of trailer + vehicle.No wood or charcoal fires allowed in the forest; only fuel-fed stoves & lanterns permitted. Adventure Pass required to park elsewhere in the forest. Reservations must be made at least four days in advance.
