Description: 4000-foot elevation. 18 campsites on the edge of the Palm Desert & the Santa Rosa Wilderness. Keep your eye out for the resident bighorn sheep herd. Hiking on the Cactus Spring Trail. Location: From Idyllwild, take CA 243 south, then take the left fork of CA 74 towards Lake Hemet southeast through the Santa Rosa Indian Reservation. Season: May - October. Reservations: NO. Available: Picnicking Hiking/Backpacking Camping Wildlife Viewing Drinking Water RV Sites Restrooms. Notes: 15-foot maximum RV length. No campfires or charcoal fires, only campstoves allowed for cooking. Adventure Pass required to park anywhere in the forest.
