Lewiston is an old Jewel. Once the main hub for gold & silver mining back in the 1860's & beyond. Now a resting place along the always cold running Trinity River. Lewiston still claims the oldest working hotel in California & the oldest single lane steel Bridge in the U.S. Home to a great bunch of folks that would take off there jacket just to keep a stranger warm. Check out all the campgrounds in the area. Most are on or near a body of water. Trinity river resort has campgrounds right on the water! You can even camp on a Island if you so desire! Don't forget the summer & fall fishing for salmon & stealhead. Some say its destined to be the best fishery in the U.S. The lakes in the area are full of trout & bass. Like Lewiston Lake has some of the State records for the largest trout. The cool waters of the Trinity Lake supply Lewiston Lake with year around cool H2O like none others in California. If you like a thrill try rafting down the Trinity River. It has class one through five flowing all the way to the Pacific ocean. There are rafting company's right in Lewiston. For another fun day try checking out Weaverville where there is everything for the consumer. Also an old Mining town with lots of charm & history. Or just laz around Lewiston & watch the beaver play or the deer graze down by the old hotel. Shop in the old towns general store & feel the magic. Laid back, gentle in spirit, & awesome in glory!
