| Description: At the southern end of the Cascade Range, Lassen Peak is an active volcano, erupting most recently in 1914-1915. The volcano is currently dormant, although a variety of hot springs & fumaroles on the mountain's flanks attest to the seething interior. The diverse habitat of the park supports a wide range of plant & animal life. Hiking & camping in the summer, skiing & snowshoeing in the winter. Permits required for backcountry travel Sections of two emigrant trails are visible.
Location: Fifty miles east of Red Bluff on CA 36, & 50 miles east of Redding on CA 44.
