| Description: The Pacific Crest Trail is a 2,650-mile national scenic trail that runs from Mexico to Canada through California, Oregon & Washington, along the spine of the Cascade & the Sierra Nevada mountain ranges. In California, the trail passes through several major national forests & sinks to its lowest point, in the Mojave desert. Many of the areas along the trail are wilderness areas, closed to mechanized traffic & without developed facilities. Other parts of the trail have more diverse opportunities.
Location: Best access is from any trailheads in the national forests through which the trail passes.
Season: best spring-fall; check current conditions.
