| Description: The Devils Postpile was formed by an ancient volcanic eruption, then carved into its current shape by two periods of glaciation. The San Joaquin River flows through the length of the monument, & a popular attraction is Rainbow Falls, where the San Joaquin drops off the cliff. Part of the monument lies within the Ansel Adams wilderness.
