Campground: Ukiah Field Office, Bureau of Land Management, South Cow Mountain OHV Area

Description: 23,000 acre Off-Highway Vehicle recreation area, with rugged, chapparal covered terrain. Approximately 120 miles of roads & trails. Buckhorn campground has four tent sites in a pine forest. Red Mountain has seven tent sites, three accessible RV sites & drinking water. Location: From Ukiah, go 1.5 miles east on Talmage Road to Eastside Road. Turn right & go 0.3 miles to Mill Creek Road. Turn left on Mill Creek Road & go five miles to South Cow Mountain Recreation Area. To reach Buckhorn campground, continue on main dirt road (veers right) seven miles to Buckhorn Road (Trail #20) intersection. Turn right & go one mile. To reach Red Mountain go 2.5 miles on main road & turn right. Season: year round. Fee: no. Reservations: no. Available: Biking Picnicking Horseback Riding Hunting Off Highway Vehicles Drinking Water RV Sites Restrooms. Notes: This area is subject to closure during periods of wet weather.
