| Description: Elevation 5100 ft. The six groups of ruins here once held a large, thriving community of hundreds of Anasazi farmers. These sites were constructed & inhabited between 900 & 1300 AD. Today, visitors can tour the prehistoric houses, kivas, fields, & observatories & ponder the enigmatic people whose sophisticated masonry & artifacts are their only remnants. None of the ruins have been rebuilt or shored up, so they are extremely fragile. No touching, entering, climbing on, digging around, or marking up the ruins. Hiking trails are primitive, & open until around five pm daily. Campground has 30 sites.
