Campground: Lake Griffin State Park

Located three miles north of Leesburg & 30 miles south of Ocala. Within an hour of central Florida attractions & theme parks, this park is home to one of the state's largest live oak trees. Contact for current rates. Facilities & Activities: RV Camping: all campsites will accommodate RV's. Sites 2, 16, 17, 18, 19, 37, & 38 have 50 amp electrical service. Full Facility Camping: forty (40) site campground. Campsites accommodate tents, trailers or motorized campers, with some sites accommodating rigs up to 40 long. Each site includes picnic table & campfire grill. Wood for campfires (when available) provided at no charge. All sites available with H2O & electric & there is a dump station for sewage disposal. Some sites have 50 amp electrical service. Bathrooms have hot showers with hot water. Lake Griffin also offers the Bedtime Story Camper Lending Library of picture books for campers aged four to nine. From raccoons to insects, the Lending Library is a fun way to enhance your childs experience in the Real Florida. For a quiet afternoon or bedtime, share a story with your child to help explain the sights & sounds of Lake Griffin. Ask the Ranger Station about how to check out a book. Picnicking: large picnic area provides scenic view of waters near the boat ramp. One twelve table covered picnic shelter available on a first come, first served basis or it can be rented for $30 per day. The shelter has H2O, electric, & family sized barbecue grills. A volleyball net & two horseshoe pits located nearby. Equipment is available upon request. Reservations for the picnic shelter can be made up to 11 months in advance by phone. Playground for small children located in day use picnic area. Boat Ramp: doublewide concrete boat ramp will accommodate trailers up to 25 feet. Anglers wishing to use dock to launch boats earlier than 8:00 a.m. may purchase an annual recreational permit for 24-hour access. Contact the park for details. Average depth of the boat basin is approximately three to four feet. Campfire Circle: join our camping community around fire circle. Canoe Launch available. Additional Facilities: full facility bath house including two handicapped accessible restrooms, & two handicapped accessible showers. Bathhouse area also offers coin operated washers & dryers. Day use area offers two handicapped accessible restrooms. Boating: boat ramp located in the park provides access to the Dead River, which meanders through a basin swamp to Lake Griffin & Ocklawaha River. Series of locks & canals connects Lake Griffin to the Harris Chain of Lakes. Water levels fluctuate depending on weather conditions, call park for a local report. 250-foot long concrete dock boaters entering park via Dead River from Lake Griffin. Canoeing & Kayaking: canoe rentals & canoe launch available. Scenic canoe ride will provide access to the Dead River & the southwest banks of Lake Griffin. Fishing: bass, crappie, & catfish. Lake located approximately one mile from park’s boat ramp via a canal & tributary. Fishing license required for everyone except children 16 years old & under, & Florida residents 65 years of age & older. Because Lake Griffin is a fish management area, the cane pole rule does not apply. This includes all waters in the park. Canoe rentals available. Nature Trails: 1/4 mile-long nature trail provides an opportunity to access the park’s plant communities & the mammoth live oak tree. Wildlife Viewing
