Lake City Florida is also known as the Gateway to Florida. We are 45 min from Valdosta, GA, 45 min from Fargo, GA and 1 hour from Kingsland, GA so we are accesible by all major roadways like I-10, I-75, I-90, and route 441. We are a cute town with some cobblestone streets & friendly people. We are the biggest town around & known for the Suwannee River & Stephen Foster Folk Center. We have an abundance of springs & lakes to float down, kayak down or swim in. If you want something bigger, it is only one hour to Gainsville or Jacksonville. Lake City has something for everyone. We have tons of shopping & antiquing, every type of restaurant you can imagine & tons of fishing & boating. People come from all the other towns around to camp, shop, eat & play. We are also known for having a great VA Hospital that people come from other states to go to. In the center of town is a beautiful lake called Desoto Lake where every year they do an outstanding fireworks show on the Fourth of July. Better than most big cities. The people are friendly & helpful and you do not have the big clutter and traffic of a big city. Stop by our old fashioned soda shop, Desoto Drug or float down the Suwannee River at Itchetucknee Springs and go camping, swimming and fishing at the Lake City Campground. Lake City is a great place to live, raise a family or to vacation in. We hope to see you soon in Lake City, Florida.
