| The valley was a group gathering for bands of Native Americans during the rich, ripe harvest season. When cooler weather came around, the bands would disperse to fend the winters grip until spring.
When the rock fell, the earth shook for miles around. Some thought an earthquake had shaken the area. Once discovered, the Fallen Rock Areas proximity was identified & known by all as a travel marker.
Also, in later years it is said that John Dillinger & his gang enjoyed the valley as a hide-out & rest stop. They once attempted to dig a grave to bury one of their fallen buddies, but, gave up digging into the rock on one of the hills. The shallow hole can still be found...somewhere.
