Oakley is home to a fascinating fossil collection at the Fick Fossil & History Museum & is home to the larger-than-lifesize sculpture of Buffalo Bill. The sculpture honors Bill Cody, who won a contest against William Comstock in 1868, which gave Cody the legendary title "Buffalo Bill."
It is also home to High Plains Camping, a highly rated RV park resort. While staying in Oakley, you can enjoy the incredibly fun Oakley swimming pool, or play a round of golf at the Oakley Country Club.
Adjacent to High Plains Camping is the Colonial Steakhouse. Enjoy breakfast, lunch, & dinner in walking distance from any camp site. It's a family restaurant with plenty of seating. Catering is also available, if you're considering having an RV rally at the campground.
Another adjacent business is "A Moment In Time," an antique mall. Take a walk back in time. The antique store is located inside an original train depot that was relocated here from Grinnell, KS.
To the south of Oakley is "Monument Rocks." This natural geological formation is worth the trip to see! While down that way (about 1/2 hour south of Oakley), stop by the Keystone Gallery & learn more about fossils & enjoy a great visit with Chuck & Barb.
Take in our fabulous & seemingly endless sunsets. Relax with our family-friendly environment. Enjoy the pull-through, full hookup sites at High Plains Camping, & enjoy your trip!
