| Maine camping, particularly waterfront camping, during the summer months is a popular pastime for thousands of our annual guests. Our campgrounds open early & close late, extending well beyond the reaches of the summer months. All of our campgrounds in the Bar Harbor Campgrounds family are open for the season & anxious to welcome our state’s visitors. But one should not overlook the possibilities of maine camping in the spring & fall. Popular tourist areas & attractions are less crowded & the foliage is beautiful; Spring with it's new growth & blossoms, Fall with the renowned colors of a New England autumn.
Mt. Desert Island is the home of Acadia National Park - the only National Park in New England & one of the most visited national parks in the U.S. If you are planning to visit the park, we suggest you take advantage of the information available at the Visitor Center located at the Hulls Cove Entrance. You will find information about naturalists tours & talks, a film highlighting the Acadia experience, & maps & books describing carriage roads, trails, wildlife, plants, & ecology. The park includes 51 miles of carriage roads & more than 120 miles of trails. |
