| Welcome, friends! My name is Princess Tammi Hawk & I am here to show you my favorite place to get back to nature.
Cherokee Hills Campground opened in the summer of 2000 to offer avid campers like you & me the chance to escape to the beauty of a virgin forest. Nestled in the hills of scenic Southeast Missouri, the campground sits on land once occupied by my people, the Cherokee, just after they were pushed west on the "Trail of Tears."
Today, Cherokee Hills strives to maintain the beauty & serenity of these surroundings. Far from the hustle & bustle of everyday life, this campground will both relax & inspire you. Explore the forest & you'll be likely to spot the many woodland animals that have made this area home. If you walk softly & watch carefully, you might catch a white-tail doe with her fawn or even a buck scraping his antlers. Rabbits come hopping through on their way to graze & you're also likely to see possums & those rascally raccoons at work & play. Many squirrels can be found climbing local trees that are also shared by woodpeckers, robins, cardinals, nuthatches, sparrows, quail & wrens. Hummingbirds are frequent visitors to the park's wildflowers & bird feeders. Once settled around your campfire in the evening you'll hear the calls of the whippoorwill & horned & hoot owls, the lonely wail of the coyotes & even the occasional scream of the wild bobcats.
Cherokee Hills offers a selection of necessities at the camp store. Sparkling showers & laundry facilities are available. |
