We are located less than1/2 mile
downstream from Van Buren on
the old Chicopee depot grounds
of the Current River Railroad.
Dating back to the late 1800's,
huge tie drives originated on the
upper Current & ended at
Chicopee. It was here that the
railroad ties were pulled from
the River & loaded on rail cars
for shipment.
As in the past, the difference in
elevation between the depot
grounds & the surrounding
area protects it from the danger
of flash floods.
And less than four miles downstream,
Big Spring, the largest single out-
let spring in the world gushes
forth from the base of a limestone
bluff.
