| Description: Elevation 2970 feet. Flathead Lake is the largest natural freshwater lake west of the Mississippi River. As if the waters of the glacial lake is not spectacle enough, it is framed by three awesome, snow-clad mountain ranges. Fishing for trophy lake trout, lake whitefish & yellow perch.
The Wayfarer Unit has 30 campsites, including seven tent-only sites, on the northeast shore. Shade from the mixed pines makes this site pleasant for camping & picnicking. Wheelchair-accessible ature trails meander through the wildflower-filled forest & along the rocky shoreline to cliffs with excellent views of the lake. Boat pumpout station & accessible boat docks.
Location: From Bigfork, go 1/2 mile south on MT-35.
