| Description: Elevation 2934 feet. Flathead Lake is the largest natural freshwater lake west of the Mississippi River. As if the waters of the glacial lake is not spectacle enough, it is framed by three awesome, snow-clad mountain ranges. Fishing for trophy lake trout, lake whitefish & yellow perch.
At the West Shore Unit, glacially-carved rock outcrops rise from Flathead Lake. Climb up for spectacular views the Swan & Mission Mountains rising over the lake. The beach is rocky, but you can still swim & boat & fish. The 26 campsites are shaded & screened by a mature Douglas fir forest.
Location: From Kalispell, go 20 miles south on US 93.
Season: year round; campground open 5/1 - 9/30. |
