| Description: 6140-foot elevation. 15 campsites, & group camping on the eastern end of Earthquake Lake. Excellent bird watching to the west of the campground. Trailhead for a 6-mile trail which extends into the Cabin Creek backpacking area. Fishing in Earthquake Lake & in Hebgen Reservoir for rainbow & brown trout.
Head to the visitor center at the west end of the lake to learn the bone-chilling story of the 1959 earthquake which dumped an 80-million ton dam across the Madison River.
Location: From West Yellowstone, take US 191 eight miles north, then 13 miles west on US 287.
