Campground: Johnson Lake State Recreation Area

Excellent camping & H2O sports are hallmarks of this ever popular area, ten miles south of Lexington. Though relatively small at 68 acres, this SRA packs a lot of outdoor fun & provides three access points to the 2,068-acre lake. It is the heart of a complex of lakes on the Tri-County Canal south of I-80 between Lexington & Cozad. It provides fine outdoor recreation opportunities, especially when joined with its neighbors, Gallapher Canyon SRA, Elwood Reservoir WMA, Plum Creek & Phillips Canyon. Attractions Johnson Lake offers excellent angling for a variety of fish, including walleye, white bass & wipers. Campers will find electrical hookups, nonpad sites, showers, modern restrooms, dump station, H2O, picnic tables, grills, shelters, vault toilets, boat ramp, fish cleaning stations, swimming beach & accessible fishing piers.
