The lake itself, formed by the Hoover Dam blocking the Colorado River, covers thousands of acres. This area caters to boaters, swimmers, sunbathers, & fishermen while its desert rewards hikers, wildlife watchers, & roadside sightseers. Three of America`s four desert ecosystems-- the Mojave, the Great Basin, & the Sonoran Deserts-- meet around this spectacular lake. Campgrounds, primitive camping area & houseboat camping cater to every inclination.Fishing for largemouth & striped bass, & rainbow trout.
Location: 31 miles south of Las Vegas on US 95 (go through Boulder City). Watch for park & visitor center signs.
