| Description: Elevation 8,500 feet. 26 camping sites, including one double site, & 11 day use picnic sites in subalpine dwarf aspen forest area. The campground is next to Angel Lake, & flanked by glacial cirques. Non motorized boating (canoeing) in Angel Lake, & fishing for rainbow, brook, & tiger trout.
Trailhead access to the northern part of the East Humboldt Wilderness from campground, & another trailhead from just east of the campground heads south, past Winchell Lake & Hole in the Mountain Peak, which features a large natural arch. Wilderness trails are for hiking or horseback riding only.
Wildlife includes bighorn sheep, mountain goats, mule deer, & pronghorn antelope. The Himalayan snowcock was introduced about 35 years ago as a game bird, & has become established.
Location: 12 miles southwest of Wells on State Route 231.
