Campground: Datil Well Recreation Area Campground
Description: There were a total of fifteen H2O wells spaced at ten mile intervals along the old Magdalena Livestock Driveway trail between New Mexico & Arizona in the 1880s. At one of them, today´s BLM site features camping & picnicking plus two nature trails through the pinon & juniper & three vista points overlooking the still wide-open spaces. Close your eyes & you can almost hear the longhorns lowing. Location: one mile west of Datil via US 60 or NM 12 Season: Year Round. Reservations: No.
