Town of windsor was established in 1807, we border Pa. The river known as the Susquehanna flows southward through the town. In the late 1890's Windsor became the Buggy Whip Manufacturing Capital of New York State with three factories. A Large number of Windsor's earliest settlers were vetrans of the Revolutionary War who had served with the New England troops. From Records available it appears that fifty veterans of the American Revolution chose to settle here in Windsor. Ten Vetrans of the War of 1812, & possibly more, also chose to make Windsor their home. Most of these graves can found in one of the five Windsor Ceneteries that were used by these early settlers: They are Old Village Cenetery, Old South Windsor Cemetery, Old Blatchley Cemetery, located on Dunbar Road (Also known as The Riley Farm Cemetery), Stow,Lyons Farm Cemetery, which is located about a mile north of the Village on Rt 79 & Lester /Mountain View Cemetery on Trim Street.Wndsor's first official settler was John Doolittle, a soldier in the Revolution. He settled here & built a log cabin on Sage Creek in 1786 with his wife, Hannah & their three children.Their is so much history here, come see for yourself & enjoy our town.
