Hillsboro is the county seat of Highland County, Ohio. Founded in 1807, Hillsboro is located between Chillicothe & Cincinatti. It's a small rural farming town but there is a lot going on! In recent years the Amish community has been welcomed to Highland county & Amish baked goods, baskets & furniture can be found in several locations.
Fishing opens the season in the early summer followed by the “Festival of the Bells” where hit performers light up the center state in July.
In August enjoy “Thunder in the Hills.” Water spray, roaring engines, & lightning speed will rocket into Highland County as some of the world's fastest speedboat racers converge on Rocky Fork Lake for the hydroplane regatta.
September brings the Ohio Draft Horse Show at the Highland County Fairgrounds located in downtown Hillsboro.
In the fall the local campgrounds have a week of Halloween/Fall campout which includes campsite decoration, pumpkin carving & costume contests.
The Fall Festival of the Leaves is celebrated in October in the nearby town of Bainbridge.

From tent camping to fully furnished cottages/cabins there are several locations to choose from. The Hillsboro Campgrounds located in & around Rocky Fork Lake are extremely popular!
There are things to do year round from fishing & boating to swimming & hiking, & just relaxing. The area offers many antique shops & golf courses for people who like a little diversity.
