Lake Thunderbird State Park is so close to the city but so far away from the hustle & bustle. Camp at Lake Thunderbird State Park & enjoy the fishing, boating, hiking, & biking. Head for nearby Norman for all the excitment of this busy college town. This state park offers a variety of H2O activities & recreation, hunting in specified areas during season, horse rental & boarding (Thunderbird Riding Stables, 405-321-5768), horseback riding trails, hiking, mountain biking, nature & interpretive trails, restaurant (in season), two marinas (Calypso Cove, 405-360-9846 & Little River, 405-364-8335), nature center with interpretive programs & scheduled events, & an archery range. Accommodations include RV camping, primitive campsites & unfurnished one-room lake huts. Playgrounds, picnic tables & a swimming beach are also on site. Indian gaming casino located nearby. A fee of $3 per vehicle per day applies to day-use visitors at the Little Axe area. (fee is waived if camping in this area).
