| Description: The Wild & Scenic Wallowa River includes the ten miles from the confluence of the Wallowa & Minam Rivers downstream to the confluence of the Wallowa & the Grande Ronde Rivers. The river corridor provides habitat for threatened & endangered species such as bald eagles & peregrine falcons, & wintering range for elk, mule deer & white-tailed deer. It also provides habitat for spring/summer chinook salmon, summer steelhead, & bull trout, as well as historic habitat for sockeye, coho & fall chinook salmon.
The Wallowa offers incredible fishing, hunting, wildlife viewing, floatboating, an extended whitewater boating season, & a state park for camping. The primary launch site for the Wallowa & Grande Ronde corridors, as well as the Bureau of Land Management visitor center, are at the Minam Recreation Area.
Location: The ten miles northwest of Minam on OR 82.
