| Description: 1800-foot elevation. 17 campsites at the confluence of French Pete Creek & the South Fork of the McKenzie River. A trailhead on the other side of the road accesses the Three Sisters Wilderness, with the trails branching out along French Pete Campground & up to Tipsoo Butte. Fishing in the McKenzie River is open for trout & steelhead April 22 - October 31, with catch & release only for trout.
For those whose idea of paradise is a nice hot soak, the Terwilliger (Cougar) Hot Springs (~111ยบ) are nearby.
Location: From Eugene, go 46 miles east on OR 126, then 13 miles south on Forest Road 19 (Aufderheide Scenic Byway).
Season: May 19 - September 11.
