Campground: McKenzie River

Description: The Wild & Scenic McKenzie River runs 12.7 miles from Clear Lake to Scott Creek. The H2O is extremely clear & cold, & has earned a national reputation as a steelhead fishery. Fishing is open for catch & release trout & for steelhead from April 22 - October 31 & is restricted to artificial flies & lures. Hiking on McKenzie River National Recreation Trail. Three developed campgrounds are within the corridor, & many more along the rest of the river. Downstream from the wild & scenic section is an enormously popular rafting & drift boating area, with Class II rapids. Fishing for brook trout in Clear Lake. Carmen Reservoir is also open to fishing, & to non-motorized boating. Location: From Springfield, go about 40 - 50 miles east on OR 126. OR 126 parallels the river. Season: year round. Fee: fee for campgrounds.
