| Description: 1195-foot elevation.5 campsites, including one double sites & one tent-only site, near the confluence of Steamboat Creek & the wild & scenic North Umpqua River. Fly fishing for steelhead & whitewater rafting in the North Umpqua; Steamboat Creek is closed to fishing. Hiking on the nearby North Umpqua National Recreation Trail & along Canton Creek to a lovely waterfall. A boat ramp for floating the North Umpqua is at nearby Island Campground.
This river is an important anadromous fish hatchery. Be careful about wading in the river & inadvertently stepping on fish spawning gravel from September - June. Please read the Oregon Sportfishing Regulations for specific restrictions on fishing the North Umpqua River.
Location: From Roseburg, go 39 miles east on OR 138, then .25 mile north on Forest Road 38.
Season: May 20 - October 15.
