Campground: North Fork Malheur River

Description: The designated segment of the North Fork Malheur runs 25 miles from its headwaters to the forest boundary. The scenery & geology are both outstanding. Livestock grazing, fishing, & big game hunting are the most common uses of this corridor. Dispersed camping is permitted in the river corridor & in the forest. A number of trailheads lead into the surrounding mountains. Location: Primary access to the North Fork Malheur River is from Unity. Take Forest Road 16 about 31 miles to Short Creek ranger station. A number of trailheads are in this area. Season: year round. Fee: no. Reservations: no.
