Campground: La Grande Ranger District, Wallowa-Whitman National Forest, Bird Track Springs Campground

Description: 3100-foot elevation. 16 campsites on the Grande Ronde River. The river corridor provides habitat for bald eagles & peregrine falcons, & wintering range for elk, mule deer & white-tailed deer. It also provides habitat for spring/summer chinook salmon, summer steelhead, bull trout, as well as historic habitat for sockeye, coho & fall chinook salmon. Fishing for trout & for steelhead in season; only adipose-clipped steelhead may be kept. Picnicking here or at nearby Red Bridge State Wayside. A nature trail offers information about the surrounding area. Location: From La Grande, go 20 miles west on I-84 & south on OR 244. Season: May - October. Reservations: NO.
