Campground: Bureau of Land Management, Medford District Office, scade-Siskiyou National Monument

Description: The Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument is located in southern Oregon, at the intersection of the Klamath & Cascade Ranges. June 9, 2000, President Clinton proclaimed it the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument. The Soda Mountain Wilderness Study Area is surrounded by areas of scientific & environmental concern, a rare plant preserve, wildlife management & viewing areas, the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail, & the Oregon-California Trail. The only developed facilities here are at Hyatt Lake, but most recreational activities are permitted, with restrictions on motor vehicles around Soda Mountain. The Pacific Crest Trail passes through much of the monument, & is open to horse riders & to hikers. Location: To Soda Mountain: From Ashland, take OR 66 about 16 miles, then go south on Soda Mountain Road about five miles to the trailhead for the Pacific Crest Trail. To Hyatt Lake: From Ashland, take OR 66 east 17 miles , then north three miles on East Hyatt Lake Road. Season: year round. Fee: no. Reservations: no. Available: Biking Fishing Hiking/Backpacking Horseback Riding Hunting Camping Wildlife Viewing Off Highway Vehicles Drinking Water RV Sites Restrooms. Notes: The monument lands are interspersed with private lands owned by timber companies. Please take heed of posted signs & avoid trespassing.
