Campground: Rogue River

Description: The ever-popular Wild & Scenic Upper Rogue River flows from the Crater Lake National Park boundary 40.3 miles to the Rogue River National Forest boundary at Prospect. The main highway for Crater Lake National Park parallels the river, & the corridor is lined with campgrounds, picnic areas, & places to stop & admire the scenery. Pullouts include a grove of giant pines, a natural bridge, & a waterfall. Other celebrated landscape features include pumice flats, deep gorges & chutes, & the deep mixed conifer forests characteristic of the Siskiyou Mountains. Angling for trout from April 22 - October 31. No limit on brook trout. Many trailheads offer a chance to stretch your legs, either on an interpretive nature trail or on a longer hike. Due to the popularity of the run, permits for private float trips are issued by lottery. The application period is from December one through January 31. Commercial trips are also available daily during the summer months. Rapids are classed from Class II-IV from Nugget Falls to Gold Hill Boat Ramp, & from Class II-II from Galice to Agness. Location: On OR 62 & OR 230 north of Prospect. Season: year round. Fee: for campgrounds. Reservations: for some campground.
