| Description: Cape Lookout is a sand spit between Netarts Bay & the ocean, giving you a terrific view of the ocean as well as easy access to the beach. The campground contains 216 campsites, including 176 tent sites, 38 RV sites with full hookups, & two RV sites with electric-only hookup. You can also reserve one of four group tent camping areas or four yurts (see notes).Discounted camping rates for visitors without cars.
Beachcombing for glass floats or agates is popular, as is clamming & crabbing around the estuary. Fishing for salmon in the fall. Park trails wind through an old-growth forest, & the Cape Lookout trail follows the headland. A trail map can be found at the trailhead. From the headland, you might spot whales (in early April) or other wildlife. The short, self-guided nature trail intertprets the abundant native plants, like the giant spruce, red cedars, hemlocks, & the tasty red huckleberries which line the path. The Jackson Creek trail starts with an interpretive panel describing the local salmon restoration project. The thermals off the H2O are the joy of hang gliders & paragliders.
