| Description: Located at the confluence of the Deschutes & the Columbia Rivers, this shady park is a favorite destination among anglers, hikers, bikers, swimmers, horse riders, waterskiers, rafters, & campers. Fishing for steelhead & trout. Wildflowers are spectacular in the canyon in early spring.
Most boaters use the Heritage Landing to access both the Deschutes & Columbia. Jetboating is permitted on the lower Deschutes except alternating weekends from June - September, when passes are required. The stretch of the river upstream from the park, which contains Class III-IV rapids & drops about .25 mile, is popular among kayakers, & whitewater rafters. The lower two miles of the Deschutes River is a "pass through" zone for boaters. This provides fishing access for the many anglers who depart on foot from Heritage Landing & use the river trails.
Facilities include nine premium RV sites with electric hookup, 26 regular RV sites with electric hookup, 35 primitive sites; four group sites for tents or RVs, one covered wagon. One extra vehicle allowed per site, maximum site length 30 feet. The covered wagon sleeps four & has electricity, wood flooring, beds, an iron tripod with a coffee pot & firewood.
Location: From The Dalles, go 17 miles east on I-84 to exit #97. Follow the signs on OR 206.
