Description: In the lofty reaches of the Blue Mountains, it`s easy to imagine the exhileration of travelers on the Oregon Trail, at arriving in such a lovely & hospitable camping place, so close to the final destination. Horse & foot trails wind out of the park through old-growth forest, allowing you a chance to range into the Umatilla National Forest & glimpse the local wildlife. Interpretive displays offer a perspective on the history of the Oregon Trail. A nature trail offers a quick & easy way to explore the native flora. 18 full hookup, 33 tent sites, seven cabins, six horse camp sites. Other facilities include a community building, a full-size basketball court & an ampitheater where rangers hold evening programs during the summer. Excellent snow-tubing in the winter. Location: From Pendleton, go 26 miles southeast on I-84 to exit #234. Season: March - November. Fee: for camping, see notes.
