Campground: Tumalo State Park

Description: This quiet park on the banks of the wild & scenic Deschutes River is a convenient base for explorations of the nearby Cascade Mountains or of the urban delights of Bend. Winter visitors appreciate the convenience to Mt. Bachelor ski area, which boasts some of the best powder in the state. Fishing is excellent for rainbow trout in the Deschutes. Trails follow the riverbank, & offer the chance to meet some of the inhabitants-- mule deer, coyotes, raptors & various small birds & mammals. Facilities include 22 RV sites with full utility hookup, 65 tent sites, two tepees, four yurts, two group tent areas, & a primitive walk- or bike-in campground. Location: From Bend, go five miles northwest on US 20. Season: year round. Fee: $3 day use; $25 annual pass.
