Campground: Yellowbottom Campground

Description: 1500-foot elevation. In old-growth forest stand, at the foot of the Cascades, where Yellowbottom Creek flows into the wild & scenic Quartzville Creek. 21 campsites, six picnic tables. A trail from the campground winds through groves of wild rhododendrons & ferns. Panning for gold in Quartzville Creek, according to the guidelines established by the BLM. A day use area is four miles south at Dogwood Creek. Location: From Albany, go 35 miles southeast on US 20, then 22 miles northeast of Sweet Home on Quartzville Road. Season: May 19 - September 25. Reservations: no.
