Campground: Roaring River

Description: The Wild & Scenic Roaring River runs 13.7 miles from its headwaters to its confluence with the Clackamas River. Except for at the confluence, the river is extremely remote & difficult to access. The purity of the H2O & the pristine condition of the river corridor are unusual outside designated wilderness areas. The river provides excellent habitat for native cutthroat trout, late run coho, & late run winter steelhead. Not only does the corridor contain an unusually diverse array of wildlife habitat, but it also provides important habitat for the threatened northern spotted owl. Dispersed camping is permitted throughout the forest, & a developed campground is at the confluence with the Clackamas River. Location: Access to the river only at its confluence, at Roaring River Campgruond on OR 224 17 miles southeast of Estacada. Season: year round. Fee: no. Reservations: no.
