| Fantasy Island Campground is unique, in that it once was an amusement park. The park, known as 'Island Park' is rumored to have hosted everybody from Dick Clark, to Chubby Checker. It featured a roller coaster called the 'Island Flyer.' After two years of construction beginning in 1924, the coaster survived for only ten years (1926-1936) following a devastating flood in March of 1936. The park also had an Olympic sized swimming pool, skating rink, & penny arcade, all of which are unfortunately no longer in exhistence. However, what we currently use as our rec-room is what once housed the amusement park's carousel. It is a very unique feature to our campground. |
