| Northwest South Carolina. Twelve miles northwest of Wallhalla off SC 28 onto SC 107.
Driving Directions: From I-85: take exit one to Hwy 11 toward Walhalla. From Hwy. 11 take Hwy 28. Travel through Walhalla & continue for approximately ten mi. Turn rt onto Hwy 107 & the park will be two mi on the rt.
The main campground, located near the park lake, offers campsites with individual H2O & electrical hookups & picnic table.
These gravel sites accommodate RV's up to 35 ft.
While tent campers may use the sites with H2O & electrical hookups, a designated walk-in tent camping area, located 100 yards off main campground, includes tent pads (limit two tents per pad) & centralized water.
Each campground is convenient to restrooms with hot showers.
Oconee State Park serves as both a destination itself & as a gateway for visitors to the Blue Ridge & Great Smoky mountains.
Located on a high plateau in the foothills, the 1,165-acre park offers cabins, camping, fishing & boating in two small lakes, hiking on eight nature/hiking trails, plus several picnic areas & shelters & meeting facilities.
The park is bordered by Sumter National Forest & is the trailhead for the 85-mile Foothills Trail. It's near the Chattooga & Chauga rivers & other regional attractions. More than 100 species of wildlife live at the park, which also features a mix of mountain & foothill flora & scenic vistas. |
