| West Central South Carolina. Located on Lake Murray, a 50,000-acre reservior in the Midlands. The park consists of three islands linked to the mainland by a causeway & two bridges.
Its 348 acres & 12 miles of shoreline provide guests with a variety of outdoor H2O recreation opportunities. The park offers lakeside camping, picnicking, lakeside villas & a nature trail.
Dreher Island is 30 miles from Columbia & 12 miles off I-26 (via Chapin exit #91).
Driving Directions: From I-26: Take exit 91 (Chapin exit- Hwy. 48) to Chapin. Turn rt on Hwy 76 for 1/8 mile, then turn left onto St. Peter's Church Rd (Hwy. 29) for four mi. Turn left onto Dreher Island Rd (Hwy 231) for approximately three mi. Then turn onto State Park Rd for two mi. to the park entrance.
Two lakefront camping areas have scenic views & easy access to the shoreline of Lake Murray. Ninety-seven paved sites may be used by both RVs & tents, while 15 sites are for tent campers only.
Each site has H2O & electrical hook-ups & a picnic table. Many sites accommodate RVs up to 45 feet, others up to 30 feet.
All sites are convenient to hot showers & restrooms. |
