Located in southern Virginia Beach, on Virginia's seacoast. False Cape State Park is a mile-wide barrier spit between Back Bay & the Atlantic Ocean. Access is through the Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge & is limited to hiking, bicycling or boating. The park features primitive camping & an extensive environmental education program in one of the last undisturbed coastal environments on the East Coast.

Wash Woods Environmental Center: Located directly on the bay, the center offers a myriad of possibilities for ecological studies. The center can accommodate day visitors or 20 people overnight. The center offers a kitchen, restrooms, shower, meeting room, library, AV equipment & lab.
Interpretive Programs: Astronomy, bus tours, birding hikes, night hikes, canoe trips & seining programs. The park also offers special programs in conjunction with Virginia Marine Science Museum, the Virginia Institute of Marine Science & Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge. |
