| Description: 4650 acres on the Columbia River, where Lewis & Clark first measured the ocean`s influence on the river. Beacon Rock, the core of an ancient volcano, can be hiked to its summit for extensive views of the Columbia Gorge. Nearly 20 miles of trails are open to hiking, biking, & horses. Beacon Rock is a popular technical rock climbing area, although some parts are closed during raptor nesting season, from February one - July 15. Boating & waterskiing on the river, & fishing for sturgeon, salmon, steelhead, bass, & walleye.
The campground has 29 sites. A group campground can hold up to 200 people & offers three-sided sleeping shelters & two kitchen shelters. One of the kitchen shelters in the picnic area can hold up to 100 people.
Location: From Washougal, go 13 miles east on WA 14 (Lewis & Clark Highway).
Season: year round; no winter camping. |
