Campground: Brooks Memorial State Park

Description: 700 acres on the East Prong Little Kickitat River, near the foot of the Simcoe Mountains. Several miles of hiking & biking trails explore the riverside & the pine forests of the foothills. From the top of the hills, you can see all the way to Mount Hood in Oregon. In the winter, groomed trails are open for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, & snowmobiling. The campground has 55 sites, 23 of which have full RV utility hookups (water only available April - October). The group campground can hold six RVs, or between 20-50 people, & has its own volleyball court. Facilities are limited in winter. Two kitchen shelters are available in the picnic area. The Brooks Memorial Environmental Learning Center (ELC) offers a lodge, kitchen, cabins, & comfort stations for groups of up to 104 people. Nature talks & other programs can be arranged through the ELC-- call 509-773-4611 for more information. Other facilities include a softball field, a small playground, & a horseshoe pit. Location: From Goldendale, go 13 miles north on US 97. Season: year round, gates close at dusk.
