| Description: Once a large hill by the river, now a1312-acre island on the Columbia River, surrounded by waters backed up by the John Day dam. The island borders the Umatilla National Wildlife Refuge, & offers a fantastic opportunity for watching the thousands of migratory waterfowl who arrive every winter. Visitors also enjoy boating, windsurfing, sailboarding, jetskiing, & waterskiing. Fishing in the river for bass, catfish, crappie, perch, salmon, sturgeon, & walleye. The Lewis & Clark National Istoric Trail passes through the park. Hiking to the top of the butte, where you have a panoramic view of Mount Hood, Mount Adams, & the Columbia River Valley.
The campground has one tent-only site & 50 with full RV utility hookups. A group area can hold up to 80 people.
Location: From Paterson, go 13 miles west on WA 14.
Season: year round.
