Campground: Dosewallips State Park

Description: 425 acres on the confluence of the Dosewallips River & the Hood Canal, with fantastic views of the Olympic Mountains. Boating & fishing in the river or the canal, swimming in the river, clamming, crabbing, & digging for oysters on the shore. One boat ramp offers access to the canal. ten miles of trails are open to hiking & mountain biking, which explore the lush forest of the Olympic penninsula. Mushrooming is a popular activity in the forest. A small picnic area includes sheltered tables & a playground. The campground has 140 sites, including 40 sites with full RV hookup. A group camp area holds 30 tent campers. Three platform tents are available for rental, equipped with futon bunk-beds, heaters, & lamps. Location: From Shelton, go 40 miles north on US 101. Season: year round; shorter hours in winter.
